Pure Space releases new annual compilation fundraiser ‘PROXIMITY’
Andy Garvey‘s Pure Space has returned to orbit with the release of a new VA compilation titled PROXIMITY. Described as “a humble nod to the sounds that have bound us together this year, keeping us connected and motivated,” the compilation features a whopping eighteen artists from new producers to living legends in the scene, all curated by Garvey‘s always impeccable taste.
Exploring the vast sonic diversity in the Australian music landscape, PROXIMITY features something for everyone. From downtempo numbers to more industrial and experimental moments, techno-tinged drum tracks to intricate piano compositions and more, each and every track has been selected by Garvey and the Pure Space team as representative of the broader electronic music community in Australia, spanning states and cities. From several Pure Space artists returning to the label to others discovered via parties, radio takeovers or even just good old recommendations, the breadth and scope of the PROXIMITY tracklist is impressive to say the least.
PROXIMITY marks the fifth release off Pure Space, including three releases during the pandemic. A testament to the ethos of the label and Garvey‘s commitment to shining a light on music she wants to champion from her community, this final release for 2020 is a fitting triumph from one of the country’s most exciting labels.
The good news doesn’t stop there either, as Pure Space are going one step further and will be donating 100% of the proceeds to Aboriginal Legal Services; based in Redfern it is the first Aboriginal Legal Service in Australia, and the first free legal assistance service in the country.
