The Avalanches have performed a cosmic and otherworldly rendition of their latest single 'Interstellar Love' as part of ABC's live music show, The Sound.

Gearing up for the release of their third studio album We Will Always Love You, The Avalanches have performed a cosmic and otherworldly rendition of their latest single 'Interstellar Love' as part of ABC's live music show, The Sound.

Performing live from the Melbourne Planetarium, the pioneering duo delivered a hypnotic performance amidst vivid lights, clouds of fog and wildly transcendent visuals of outer space. Launching this track into a completely new dimension, the entire visual and sonic production is a stunning prelude for what's to come in their new album.

Performing remotely, American artist Leon Bridges also joined the live performance from Niles City Sound recording studio in Texas, adding emotion and soul to this transportive rendition.

Inspired by the story of astronomer Carl Sagan and his wife Ann Druyan, 'Interstellar Love' with Leon Bridges is the latest release from the duo's upcoming album We Will Always Love You, following the title track featuring Blood Orange, 'Running Red Lights' with Rivers Cuomo and Pink Siifu, 'Wherever You Go' with Jamie xx, Neneh Cherry, and CLYPSO, 'Reflecting Light' with Sananda Maitreya and Vashti Bunyan, 'Take Care In Your Dreaming' with Denzel Curry, Tricky, and Sampa The Great, and 'Music Makes Me High'.

Set to be a largely collaborative album across 25 tracks, We Will Always Love You is set for release Friday, December 11. With cosmic love and the story of Ann Druyan inspiring much of their new music, The Avalanches shared with fans the meaning behind their upcoming album and artwork saying:

"In keeping with the album's theme of everlasting love as an undying vibration, Ann's image was run through a spectrograph, turned into sound, and back again. The image remains hidden, deep within in the grooves of the music, for you to discover if you wish...An exploration of the vibrational relationship between light, sound and spirit."
