Live Review: Tommy Genesis releases new single, 'a woman is a god' and announces new LP

Self-described 'fetish rapper' Tommy Genesis has today released a new single titled, 'a woman is a god'. Alongside the release of the track she's also announced her upcoming new LP, 'goldilocks x', which arrives September 10th via Downtown Records. The record marks her first full length project in three years, following her self titled and critically acclaimed 2018 record. Since then she's dabbled in collaborative efforts, releasing tracks with Deb Never, Jozzy and of course frequent collaborations with pop queen Charli XCX.

'a woman is a god' is co-produced by famed house DJs The Martinez Brothers and its no surprise that sonically, the track is a perfect anthem for the re-opening of clubs globally. On it, she raps affirmation, 'if a man is a man, then a woman -- a woman is a god'. It's a dark and minimal house tune, with its bouncy percussive undertones combining perfectly with Genesis' laid back yet dominant vocal performance.

The forthcoming record, 'goldilocks x' was executive produced by Genesis herself and Lil Rich, featuring guest production from Good Times Ahead, the Martinez Brothers, Charlie Heat, Stelios and more. Of the upcoming album, Genesis says, "Goldilocks is that feeling when things feel 'just right'. Like you’re entering a space that makes sense, you just can’t put your finger on why but it just does. You don’t know why you like it but you do. The X is the unknown factor, the experimental element, the punk."
