Wiki releases new single from forthcoming album, ‘Half God’ featuring MIKE
NYC based rapper Wiki has released his new single ‘Promised’ featuring MIKE. The track is from his forthcoming coming record ‘Half God’ which is executively produced by established skater and up and coming rapper/producer Navy Blue. The release follows the first two singles from the project ‘Roof’/‘Remarkably. Wiki has continued to progress as a lyrical visionary and storyteller, painting grim and murky images of New York City. This proud ethos is now being explored through a new sonic lens, recruiting the simplicity and beauty of Navy Blue’s production.
‘Promised’ features fellow underground NYC rapper MIKE, known for highly lyrical and emotive deliveries. None more evident than his most recent project,‘Disco!’, where MIKE presents warm and hopeful images in the process of detailing his own journey through trauma and grief. This personal tone and reflection pairs perfectly with Wiki’s already established introspective creations, making him the perfect fit to join ‘Half God’.
The simple loop of percussion and guitar creates a warm structure which allows Wiki to effortlessly reflect on themes such as pleasing fans, his position in the rap industry and missing his home of NYC when he is touring. Wikis’ rapping creates an aurora of reflecting on his colourful life weaving through mishaps and personal refinements. Mike holds the sombre yet powerful mood of the track delivering a verse that is as equally as reflective as Wiki’s, touching on his own personal progression, addressing grief and his place in society.
Alongside the release, Wiki has recently announced an upcoming collaboration with Chinese shoe brand Warrior Shanghai, featuring a merch line with sneakers, jerseys, t-shirts and caps. Wiki will be utilising an art project being the ‘Wiki Flag’ honouring his paternal roots of Irish and puerto rican which have vital in combining with his New York City identity.
