Milan Ring announces debut album “I’m Feeling Hopeful” alongside new single featuring Jean Deaux
Acclaimed Eora based artist Milan Ring has announced her highly anticipated debut album, ‘I’m Feeling Hopeful’ set for release on December 3rd via Astral People Recordings / PIAS. Alongside the announcement comes the release of her new single, ‘Pick Me Up’, featuring Chicago up and comer, Jean Deaux. Deaux has a track record of epic collaborations, having shared the mic with the likes of Mick Jenkins, Kehlani, Saba and Isaiah Rashad, so it’s no surprise she’s decided to collaborate with one of Australia’s R&B icons in the form of Milan Ring. The single follows recently released tracks ‘BS’ feat. Che Lingo and ‘Hide With You’ both which feature on the forthcoming record.
The new single, ‘Pick Me Up’ tackles themes of royalty and beauty, (as represented by the mudra Allapadma which features on the single’s artwork) as it ponders on the idea of presenting sexuality, confidence in high intensity areas, such as the presented club setting. The track’s music video reflects these ideas, directed by Natasha Foster (Entropico), and also features an appearance from Jean Deux shot in LA.
The forthcoming record is set to be inspired by hope. Whether overcoming trauma, experiencing healing, challenging the promise of an alternative path, or seeing light at the end of the tunnel, ‘I’m Feeling Hopeful’ is set to challenge the common trials and tribulations of her life. The record was written, recorded, executive produced and mixed in its entirety by Milan in her studio, located in Marrickville on Gadigal Land in the Inner West of Sydney.
“I’m Feeling Hopeful explores the themes of love (for others and for the self), relationships, control, freedom, the critical mind, depression, desires and addiction from many different perspectives, all born “from my observations of the world around me and the world within,” says Milan.
