Born in Hong Kong, bred in New Zealand and based in Boorloo/Perth artist Jewel Owusu has revealed her new single, 'Mixed Signals' premiering today via Purple Sneakers, before its official release tomorrow on the 26th of November. Owusu has made a name for herself as a performer in Perth, having shared the stage with the likes of Adrian Dzvuke, Supathick, and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.

'Mixed Signals' is the third single of a massive breakout year for Jewel Owusu, establishing her sound as truely singular, reflecting her unique identity, upbringing and life practices. Her new single, reflects this perfectly, a softly tapped pop instrumental combines perfectly with her personality fuelled vocals. Also entering the mix is jazz-pop multi-instrumentalist Jarrod Jeremiah, whose crisp vocals combine perfectly with Owusu's sonic territory. What's created is an undeniably upbeat indie track, that's equal parts evocative and playful.

Speaking about the track, Owusu says, “Mixed signals is an upbeat indie-pop song following a playful back and forth narrative about being in a grey area with someone and not knowing how they feel about you.”

“The main takeaway from the song is; if someone likes you then you’ll know,” she said.
