The sacred nightclub in which Purple Sneakers was born is returning with a 24 hour license.
Solotel has today announced the return of a Sydney/Eora nightlife icon, with The Abercrombie set to officially reopen its doors on Friday the 23rd of December.
The venue is equipped with a 24-hour license and has undergone an incredible transformation with three venues operating under one roof, establishing itself as the inner-city's new cultural hub.
The venue acted as the official home and birthplace of Purple Sneakers, which started as a weekly party at the venue. The party was one of Australia's leading indie club nights and acted as the home for dance and alternative music in Sydney. The club night hosted the likes of Foals, Bloc Party, The Presets and Vampire Weekend.
The club will reopen with a 36 hour party followed by a week of non-stop events. The launch party features a stacked line up of some of Australia's strongest tastemakers from the likes of Mike Who, Andy Garvey, Ayebatonye, Dameeeela as well as the one and only, Purple Sneakers.
Following the party tastemakers including House Of Mince, Sweat It Out and Motorik will be taking the reins for the next 7 days, hosting a range of trailblazer, grass root and established names on high rotation to see the year out.
The Abercrombie has been re-designed to cater for an array of music tastes across three venues. The ground floor will act as its club, public bar and beer garden space and will act as a revolving door for non-stop parties taking advantage of the venue's 24 hour license.

In that it will see the return of the infamous Purple Sneakers party in a brand new format as well as hosting promoters including Nomad Radio, Future Classic, Planet Trip, Gallery Recs and so many more.
Upstairs will feature a more relaxed atmosphere with Casa Rosa a playful, late night italo-disco cocktail lounge and rooftop terrace with an eclectic mix of DJs on high rotation. The adjoining terraces will feature the new aperitivo wine bar and shop Lil Sis which is also open until the early hours.
CEO Of Solotel, Elliot Solomon stated, "There’s a strong sense of responsibility reopening the Abercrombie given that formative memories of generations of Sydney partiers, including myself, were forged here.
"We’re ecstatic to welcome back some of the OG club crews like Purple Sneakers. We’re also very aware that there’s a generation of kids who haven’t been able to experience those heady clubbing days in Sydney, for various reasons.
"This new era for the Abercrombie is focused on helping to redefine the meaning of Sydney’s social scene as well as provide a platform for the next generation of party crews and clubbers to create their own culture-defining experiences.”
The Abercrombie will be open through to 5am on weekends and 24-hours for special events. From rooftop day parties to early morning raves the three venues under one roof will provide a totally unique experience for everyone seeking a bit of fun in the heart of the city.
The Abercrombie (100 Broadway, Chippendale) is opening on Friday the 23rd of December.
