As a part of Sydney Festival this month, an old business club and bastion of 70s Sydney nightlife has been transformed into The Weary Traveller to host some of the most progressive names in underground Australian dance music.
The venue is located in the iconic Siedler mushroom building in Sydney's Martin place. The building was the old CTA Business Club and has since transformed into into a late night music venue and pop-up bar and will and has hosted 16 nights of music right in the city.
The program features the likes of C.Frim, Mirasia, Crescendoll, Isa, Moktar, Coloured Stone, HTRK, Chanel Loren & Lil Silva, Vv Pete, Party Dozen, Potion and many more.
Astral People will be hosting C.Frim B2B Mirasia alongside Crescendoll and Isa on the 21st of January. Co-founders of Dutty Worldwide, C.Frim and Mirasia will present an extremely special set that can't be missed, with both acts soldifying themselves as some of the best selectors and curators in the country. Athletica's Isa also joins as well as Crescendoll off the back of a huge set at Boiler Room Mode Festival.
Another highlight on the rest of the program is a huge headline set by Eora-based producer and DJ Moktar on the 29th of January. Moktar has wowed fans with a pair of EP's on Steel City Dance Discs, incorporating traditional Arabian instrumentation with heavy sampling to reflect his experience living in Australia as an Egyptian. He will be supported on the night by Naarm selectors Sophie McAlister and DJ Earl Grey.
