On social media this week, rumours have been swirling after trusted music account ABTLABinsider tweeted about the possibility of a collab between pop icon Britney Spears and revved producer/DJ Calvin Harris. They simply wrote 'Calvin Harris x BRITNEY SPEARS', which sent fans into a hype frenzy.

Fans flooded the comments, with an American user saying, "BRITNEY COMING WITH THE SONG OF THE SUMMER IKTR!"

Following ABTLABinsider's tweet, a new song titled How Much I Care was added to the official discography of Calvin Harris on Wikipedia, setting off a wave of speculation on social media. The entry appears directly underneath "Miracle," the Grammy-winning DJ and producer's recent chart-topping collaboration with Ellie Goulding.

Despite the hype, both Spears and Harris have yet to confirm the collaboration.

Fans are also inclined to believe the new collab after Britney's recent foray into dance music, where she joined forces with Elton John to recreate the 1972 smash-hit Tiny Dancer, turning it into a dance anthem.

Hold Me Closer is the first new music from Spears following the end of her controversial conservatorship, which had inspired a full-blown movement spearheaded by fans. It was Spears' first release in six years.

Recently, Spears broke her silence on the controversial involuntary conservatorship that she was forced to live under for thirteen years.

The Guardian reports that Spears shared – and then deleted – a 22-minute voice note via YouTube revealing new allegations about the thirteen years she spent under the conservatorship.

In the voice note, Spears makes several new allegations about the conduct of her family during that time frame revealing that at times she felt like they were trying to kill her.

At one point in the voice note, Spears states, “I cared so much [about my work] and they literally killed me. They threw me away. I felt like my family threw me away. I was performing for thousands of people a night at Vegas. The rush of being a performer, the laughter, the joy, the respect ... I was a machine. I was a f---ing machine. It was insane how hard I worked.I honestly deserve an award for acting like I was OK every day. I thought they were trying to f---ing kill me.”
