"Working with hearteyes is something I’ve wanted to do for so long and the vulnerability in his writing and performance is something I really admire."
Following on from their adored 2021 album, Donatachi has continued to push the boundaries of their record and sonic presence, presenting their audience with two new singles which have been added to the project. The singles feature two incredible, bubbling and progressive artists in Eora/Sydney based hearteyes and Naarm/Melbourne duo cookii.
Donatachi, with everything they do is constantly pushing the boundaries of what pop and electronic music can be. The mini-album utilised the sugary, grand a sweet appeal of hyperpop, while embracing their true unique emotions and singular production class. The new tracks embrace this ethos perfectly.
The first of which is bad 4 me featuring hearteyes. The single is a pop-punk inspired, grungy track with a nostalgic, euphoric and emotive glow. It's pre-chorus and hook are its highlights, that feature huge synths and swaying breakbeat drums.
Speaking on the making of bad 4 me Donatachi explains: “So much of my work is based around expressing euphoria and joy, and so for a while I have been trying to explore the opposite, embrace the feeling of melancholy a little.
"Working with hearteyes is something I’ve wanted to do for so long and the vulnerability in his writing and performance is something I really admire. One of the positive memories I’ll have from lockdown is being able to create this song with hearteyes and I’ll always be grateful to him for giving me that during an intense time.”
Then follows cloud 9 with new project and fan adored cookii. The single comes shortly after the duo released their debut project, popstyle. It features 7 tracks of pure pop euphoria, one that sees the duo elevated an esteemed class in forward thinking electronic music. With the collaboration, Donatachi taps this energy directly, providing an elevated, dance focussed moment that is an unapologetic banger.

On the creation on cloud 9, they explain, "I’m cookii’s biggest fan; I love their project so much and we’ve been friends for years. I feel like we really understand each other which makes collaboration so natural. I’d been sitting on this beat for so long, trying to write with different people on it and it was never quite right, but I loved the song so much I couldn’t let it go.
"Once cookii came on board it came together perfectly and so quickly. Lucian and I trying to outdo each other on the beat and Rosebud writing effortless hook after hook; this song makes me excited to work together more.”
