"In October of this year I’m going to play my last show for the foreseeable future."
EDM icon GRiZ has announced that he'll be stepping back from touring for the "foreseeable future".
Announcing his self-imposed hiatus on social media, the Feel No Pain hitmaker cited a desire for more quality time with his friend and family as the main reason for stepping back from his hectic touring schedule.
GRiZ, aka Grant Kwiecinski, detailed his plans via Instagram on Wednesday, saying, "In October of this year I’m going to play my last show for the foreseeable future and will be taking a good amount of time off from touring and the GRiZ project."
“Life is really good, and often I make myself too busy to see just where I am and how far the project has come. I’m following my gut instincts so for now, I’m not going to put a hard time limit length on the break."
He goes on to reflect on his early days as an artist while explaining that after working non-stop for a decade, he now hopes to "nurture a relationship with myself and to my fam and friends that far too often I’ve ignored in place of my relationship with work."
“Feels like yesterday that I was DJing to a room of no one at 9 p.m. for a free PBR or two,” he continued.

“I dropped out of college at 21 and moved to Colorado where I’ve been living now for 10+ years working nonstop…so I’m going to make more time to nurture relationships with myself and to my fam and friends that far too often I’ve ignored in place of my relationship with work."
"I’m excited to take time to travel, find fresh inspiration, write music and to be in a new headspace. I also got myself a spot in Michigan which I’m excited to, in time, move back to for parts of the year.”
It comes following the producer's earlier announcement that his annual Christmas charity event in Detroit, GRiZMAS, will not take place this year or next year, with the future of the event to be determined. He will also no longer hold his annual Space Camp and New Year’s Eve shows.
Originating from Michigan, GRiZ's meteoric rise in the industry has led him to headline high-profile events and venues, such as Electric Forest, Red Rocks and more.
Moreover, his philanthropic efforts are equally impressive, with his annual GRiZMAS event has generated over $400,000 in donations that directly benefit Detroit-based charities dedicated to promoting music education for children.
