If you thought you’d seen enough of Ice Spice lately, think again.

The rapper has just been confirmed as one of the cast members to star in Spike Lee’s adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s crime noir High And Low

The film will mark Ice Spice’s first time entering the acting world, where she will work alongside Denzel Washington, as well as Ilfenesh Hadera and Jeffrey Wright.

Sources say that the film is currently in production under a partnership between Apple Original Films and A24. A24 will handle the premiere before it hits AppleTV+ within the next year.

High And Low is a 1963 Japanese crime film that was inspired by the 1959 Ed McBain novel King’s Ransom. The story follows a wealthy businessman, Kingo Gondo, who is trying to take ownership of a shoe corporation.

However, a roadblock is placed in the way of his plans when he finds out someone has kidnapped his son—or so they thought. Instead, the playmate of Gondo’s son and child of Gondo’s chauffeur have been stolen, and now Gondo has to make a choice about where his money will go—the company or the ransom?

Details of Lee’s adaptation are limited at present, and it is unknown who Ice Spice will be playing. Based on the original movie, it is speculated that the raper could be playing Reiko Gondo, the wife of the main character Kingo. It is also possible that Spice could be playing a law enforcement or businesswoman role.

If the year wasn’t busy enough for Ice Spice, the rapper is also set to release her debut album, Y2K, within the year. While little has been revealed, the album will contain the hit single Think U The Shit (Fart) and is to be produced by RiotUSA as well as A Lau (Jay Critch, Ski Mask The Slump God).
