J-MILLA is one of the best up-and-coming artists electrifying Australian airwaves, and two of the country's biggest media companies are taking note and boosting him to superstar status.

On June 1st, in a historic first, TikTok and iHeartRadio will broadcast the hip-hop sensation live from Wadeye [Pronounced WAD-AIR], the largest indigenous community in the Northern Territory.

J-MILLA's last concert united the Wadeye community in a celebration of song and dance. “[We] have made gradual steps forward in achieving some form of peace in the town. This event helped by [allowing] our mob to sit together and enjoy,” said traditional owner Stephen Pultchen.

J-MILLA’s return by popular demand will be a highlight of Reconciliation Week (May 27-June 3), a tonic for local pride and resilience and a historic media event as the first digitally live-streamed concert from a remote indigenous community.

“Bringing people together, using music to tell our stories and celebrate the good things we share, that’s my mission as a performer,” says J-MILLA

Since the release of his 2020 breakthrough track, Unlock the System, J-MILLA has rocked more than 20 remote communities in the NT, NSW and Queensland, where positivity and empowerment have remained his primary focus. “All the TikTok and radio streams are fantastic, but I am mostly committed to making mob stronger in these communities, and that’s never going to change,” he says

Ollie Wards, TikTok Australia and New Zealand, Direct of Music, said that "J-MILLA has been building fans on TikTok and through his workshops and performances in Communities across the country. We've seen TikTok users soundtracking their videos with J-MILLA's latest track, Nicest ft Thir13teen, and now we're looking forward to bringing the energy of J-MILLA's show in the Wadeye community to viewers around the world via TikTok LIVE".

As of mid-May, close to 1000 TikTok users have brought their own creative flair to J-MILLA’s latest single, Nicest. Ft. Thir13een. Ahead of the Wadeye event, J-MILLA announced a community dance-off on TikTok in which users are encouraged to post their own moves to Nicest. The Wadeye local who posts a TikTok and scores the most likes will join J-MILLA live on stage!

J-MILLA Live in Wadeye will be streamed by TikTok at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday, June 1. You can also catch J-MILLA guest hosting on TikTok Trending all that week at 3pm AEST daily on the free iHeart app and DAB+Digital Radio in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
