Celebrating some of the best local music around, the Music Victoria Awards will return this November to shine a spotlight on the achievements of the past 12 months.

Confirmation of the beloved event's return arrives as submissions open, with state music body Music Victoria inviting music fans and the industry to have their say and help shape this year’s nominees.

“2022 is the time for celebration of artists and embracing the return of the Victorian music culture we all know and love,” Music Victoria CEO Simone Schinkel said.

“This year has been about reclaiming live music and discovering your new favourite artist. The Music Victoria Awards are the chance for the public and industry to share the best local music they’ve discovered this year and give the recognition that those artists deserve.”

Much-loved Victorian music champion Molly Meldrum added: “There’s amazing talent out there as Music Victoria knows. It’s so important for them to be acknowledged and the Music Victoria Awards give them that.”

This year, the award for ‘Best Festival’ will be split into ‘Best Metro Festival’ and ‘Best Regional Festival’, while new category for ‘Best DJ’ is also introduced.
