The adoration for the event couldn't be stopped, with a street in Sydney's Inner West hosted their own, front yard Vivid experience.
The cancellation of Vivid Sydney for 2021 was one of the most painful cancellations as a result of COVID-19. Vivid acts as one of the most important cultural moments for Eora/Sydney's creative scene, combining visual and audio artists to create a month of wholesome chaos for the arts industry. The energy and adoration for the event couldn't be stopped, with a street in Sydney's Inner West hosting their own, front yard Vivid experience. On Saturday, Juliett Street Marrickville got out their Christmas lights, a slab of beer and brought the institutions spirit to their local community.
Organised through a street WhatsApp group, the street took the task of providing their street with Christmas in August energy, decorating the front of their houses for a special one night occasion. As the street was decorated, live performances were accompanied. Whether acoustic guitars, the odd DJ set up or the highlight of the night, a Karaoke Machine, the live entertainment truely captured the spirit of what Vivid means for creative communities. Together they brought smiles, laughter and that distant feeling community togetherness. The night was mainies mayhem with people checking out the light displays.
The word is that the lights are still up! So if you've tested negative, within the 5 kilometre radius and have a car, go check it out.
