QUIVR announces three-day live-streaming fundraiser in May

UPDATE: Due to overwhelming demand, QUIVR has announced they'll be adding an extra day to the festivities, with the event now going for three days over the May long weekend from May 2nd to May 4th.

Having launched only a few months ago, digital platform QUIVR quickly became a lifeline for many Brisbane DJs and artists when the COVID-19 outbreak decimated the live music industry overnight. The live-streaming studio allows anyone who is playing on the decks to broadcast to the world from Brisbane’s Winn Lane, and has become integral to the greater Brisbane dance scene's rapid shift to a virtual space. Now, recognising the important part they are playing in keeping people connected and keeping people dancing, QUIVR have announced a two-day live-streaming fundraiser to be held over the May long weekend.

Set to showcase over 25 DJs, the event is called "Inside" and seeks to raise funds to keep the space going. Anyone who wishes to donate can do so via a GoFundMe campaign, with organisers advising donations will be going straight to the community funded space "to keep the service open and thriving."

QUIVR founder Hollee Hibberson said of the event, “When the pandemic hit, I had no idea how the scene was going to cope – so I pulled together the top DJ’s and Venue Owners of Brisbane on a Zoom chat and asked the question – “How can QUIVR help?”. There was a resounding feeling of “We need QUIVR! It’s all we have left! Let’s keep it open and thriving!” – and so the idea for the stream-a-thon fundraiser was born – let’s get some support so we know QUIVR will be here long after this crisis”.
