More Wu-Tang Clan More Wu-Tang Clan

Last Friday (19 May), Wu-Tang Clan member RZA joined Russell Crowe and his band, The Gentlemen Barbers, on stage in Sydney.

Playing at The Bridge Hotel in Rozelle as part of the Indoor Garden Party series, RZA jumped on stage and performed Crowe’s song, Let Your Light Shine, alongside the Gladiator actor and even added his own verse. Check out the footage below.

As NME notes, the pair have collaborated on multiple occasions, but it’s always been on film.

Crowe and RZA notably worked on American Gangster (2007) and The Next Three Days (2010), while Crowe starred in RZA’s 2012 directorial debut, The Man With The Iron Fists. Most recently, RZA featured alongside Crowe in his written and directed series, Poker Face (released on Stan last year).

Earlier this year, at a separate Indoor Garden Party event in Coffs Harbour, Crowe was accompanied by Amy Shark and took on Mark Hoppus’ vocals from her track, Psycho, which appears on her 2018 album, Love Monster.

Shark performed at Crowe's Indoor Garden Party at the Hoey Moey in Coff's Harbour alongside Janet Devlin and other artists on the bill.

Posting the clip on her Instagram story, Shark called Crowe Hoppus's understudy and captioned their performance, "This is how much Russell Crowe likes my song."

A few weeks ago, Rihanna revealed that her son was named after the iconic Wu-Tang Clan member, RZA.

Revealing the baby’s name almost a year after his birth, young RZA Athelston Mayers was inspired by A$AP Rocky’s family’s naming kids after hip-hop heavyweights; Rocky’s real name is Rakim Athelston Mayers after the legendary rapper.

In fact, Rakim met Rocky as a baby many years ago while driving around Harlem.

“I remember a long time ago, driving through Harlem. A lady walks across the street. I’m at the light, she walks across the street. She got the carriage and everything,” RZA told Hot 97 in 2019.

“She says can ‘you sign this for me?’ I never say no. I say ‘what’s his name?’ Rakim. I’m like word? She’s like Rakim. I sign the joint, I remember that day, cause that was the first time hearing someone named their son after me. Like I said, humbling experience.”
