Live Review: Penelope Two-Five offer up vintage vibes in this guest mix

8 December 2017 | 1:44 pm | Staff Writer

Brisbane duo PENELOPE TWO-FIVE have a penchant for dance music from yesteryear. It's a deep love that infiltrates every facet of their music, but instead of sounding like a tribute band or mimicking in anyway, they use this to their advantage. Utilising their influences, they create music that transports you away from your immediate surroundings and makes you want to move, feel and float away.

Born in the basement of a Brisbane warehouse, Penelope Two-Five represent a shift in the local scene in Brisbane and beyond, as a love for nostalgic techno and house grows stronger across the country. It's an exciting time for dance music as the music on offer continues to diversify in sound, and more and more emerging artists take on more individual styles to create something utterly their own- and that's exactly what Penelope Two-Five have done. Having just dropped a new EP titled Lost Tapes for Calvin, the duo are making some killer moves as they gear up to really make 2018 their own. They've only played a handful of shows so far, including a set at this year's ARCADIA festival, but their EP paints a picture of a duo with a lot potential. Destined for big things, we like to jump on a good thing when we see it, so we've got them on guest mix duties for our radio show this week!

Offering up vintage vibes, Penelope Two-Five explore their influences here in this 20-min mix, further highlighting exactly what they're about. Featuring some of their favourite tracks, the duo lay down some solid vibes here, serving as the perfect soundtrack to get your weekend started, or to throw on to relax to. It's a universal sound that we can't get enough of, so we're extremely excited to have this mix from them.
