Aussie/UK act ANTONY & CLEOPATRA are no strangers to any d-floor, and the duo have delivered us another slice of electro-goodness with new single ‘Hurt Like Hell’. This is the biggest release to date for collaborators Alexander Burnett and Anita Blay, as ‘Hurt Like Hell’ is set to become the title and opening track for the pair’s upcoming debut EP, which is set to be released November 23 via Dew Process and Universal Music Australia.
‘Hurt Like Hell’ is a unique track for Burnett and Blay by ways of its creation, as the duo unveiled that it is the only song they have written remotely from one another. Burnett explains that he had originally sent music over to Blay in Berlin (where she was living at the time) and when she sent back some lyrics the following day, the rest was history.
Musically speaking, the steady mallet beats and swirling electronic notes make it a true mover and shaker for anybody looking for a boogie. The recurring lyric "I can’t get enough" serves as a ruling that listeners will have to keep moving to serve their insatiable appetites for dance, and make the track truly catchy. It’s an infectious single with symptoms including head bopping, hip shaking and toe tapping. All in a day’s work for these two electro aficionados.

Interestingly, Antony & Cleopatra road tested ‘Hurt Like Hell’ earlier this year when they played an energetic set at Splendour In The Grass. The track was easily one of the biggest crowd pleasers from the set- an amazing achievement and solid reassurance for the duo as they set out to curate the EP for the rest of the year. The finished body of work will include six tracks all up. That’s six opportunities for us to lose ourselves on the d-floor.
