The ever-enchanting WOODES is back with an otherworldly new single in 'Change My Mind'. Fresh from the release of her critically acclaimed EP at the start of 2018, Golden Hour, touring with CITY CALM DOWN and just a few weeks out from her performance at SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS, 'Change My Mind' was made during some much-needed down time for the artist who has spent most of 2018 touring and supporting the likes of ASGEIR and SYLVAN ESSO. Created on the very first day she was in New Zealand when she finally found some time to hone in on the inspiration she kept having during these support slots and shows, 'Change My Mind' is a fresh and exciting development from an artist that never stops evolving.
Focussing on the fact that she has been living in her little bubble for a while, but is ready to now let someone else in, Woodes sounds positively angelic on this single. Letting someone into your life can be a scary thing, particularly if you're so focussed on your vision and career, but here, Woodes sounds joyous and welcoming at the thought. Centred around a rolling live beat by her drummer Tim Cox, Woodes' signature ethereal production once again soars here, but rather than evoking mystery, 'Change My Mind' sounds like the curtains have been pushed wide open to let the light in.
Light and meticulous, the song swirls and blooms as Woodes embraces the exciting potential of letting another into her life, and is letting us in to fully experience this with her. Clearly sharing the stage with some of her musical heroes at the start of the year gave Woodes a fresh perspective which she's jumped on with the grace and precision only she can do, heralding the next evoltion of Woodes with warmth and openness. We just hope there's more where this one came from!
