Live Review: PREMIERE: BODY CORP goes ambient on new single, 'Without Beginning or End'

8 July 2021 | 9:50 am | Parry Tritsiniotis

The single is taken from Body Corp and his forthcoming solo record, 'Monument' out on the 20th of August via Bedroom Suck Records.

Body Corp is the solo endeavour of Sydney/Eora based composer and producer, Marco Vella. Most known for his work with pop and dance fusion three piece Retiree, he's also had numerous outings under his own name and the BODY CORP alias. His previous BODY CORP releases established him as a club focussed producer. From a spacey dance music debut EP via Soothsayer and a rampant, community radio adored single, 'Borge' under Parry Talks, the underground stalwart is now showcasing his ambient abilities via a new single, 'Without Beginning or End', out tomorrow via Bedroom Suck Records and premiering now via Purple Sneakers.

The single is taken off forthcoming solo record, 'Monument' out on the 20th of August. It's been described as a moody, almost intergalactic journey. It's in collaboration with actor Sam Smith and visual artist Max Berry. 'Monument' was created to accompany Max Berry's exhibition of the same name which showcased at the Broken Hill Regional Gallery in mid-2020. Inspired by desolate Australian soundscapes, the audio side of the project is a clear soundtrack to a journey, combining simple and captivating layers with Smith's skin tingling vocal delivery. 'Monument' embodies this ethos, binding together loneliness, confusion with a beauty that makes listeners not want to escape the feeling, but reflect on it.

Via a post on Instagram, Vella (Body Corp) stated, "The idea with this record for me was story telling through a visual, cosmic journey - which I find quite prominent in Max’s art. I hope you enjoy :)"

The music video was put together by James ‘Marto’ Martin and was inspired by the philosophy of the original 'Monument' exhibition by Max Berry. Martin comments on putting together the ethereal video, stating, “It’s a collective visual diary of time between Marco and Marto, exploring natural energy with no beginning nor end.”
