dameeeela - The Shake Up ft. Tjaka

Long time Purple Sneakers favourite daameeeela has released her debut single. dameeeela has long time been a queen of underground dance music in so called Australia. She’s a multi-hyphenate DJ, producer, radio host and Yuggera woman, establishing herself as one of Meanjin’s most in-demand selectors. It channels emotive classics of Detroit house pioneers, alongside catchy melodies and a decontextualisation of her culture, rhythms and melodies of her past.

daine - New Ground

Alternative/electronic pop ascending voice daine has today released the newest taste of her forthcoming project, ‘Quantum Jumping’ set for release on the 18th of March. ‘New Ground’ steps away from the melancholic vibes of her previous releases, taking on a redemptive tone. It features nostalgic lyrical tropes of second-wave emo, over reverberated guitar picks and an uptempo percussion run. 

MUNGMUNG - New Flame

Eora/Sydney-based multidisciplinary hip hop, R&B and pop artist MUNGMUNG shares her latest single 'NEW FLAME'. The single is taken from her newly announced debut EP, ‘Main Character’ set for release on the 18th of March. Made in collaboration with Taka Perry, the track is driven by a glitchy, playful, uptempo instrumental, jam packed with massive low ends and slick bars delivered by MUNGMUNG.

Harvey Sutherland - Feeling of Love featuring DāM-FunK

Naarm based producer, DJ and instrumentalist Harvey Sutherland has today revealed that his forthcoming debut album, ‘Boy’, will release on the 29th of April. Alongside the announcement, the synthesiser extraordinaire has released his latest single, ‘Feeling of Love’, featuring DāM-FunK. The track is straight out of the Harvey Sutherland boogie wheelhouse, featuring inspiring lead vocals from the Los Angeleno godfather of Modern Funk, Damon Garrett Riddick.

Yeat - Still Countin

Hip-hop enigma Yeat has today revealed his new single, ‘Still Countin’. The rapper is set to become one of the genre's biggest underground stars, teasing his new project with its massive feature list. The track is classic Yeat, featuring blown out synthesisers, raging bass runs and his impeccably beautiful monotone vocal. 

Orion Sun - dirty dancer

Critically acclaimed singer, songwriter and producer Orion Sun has today announced her newest project ‘Getaway’ is set for release on the 11th of March. To celebrate the news, she’s released her infectious new single, ‘dirty dancer’, alongside its music video. With the track and its visuals, she beautifully depicts her vulnerability and inner strength, showcasing a unique sense of introspection and depth, both as a human, but also creatively as a part of her project. 

Caroline Polachek - Billions

Caroline Polachek has today returned, releasing her highly anticipated new psych-pop single, ‘Billions’. The track, produced by Danny L Harle and Polachek is a dreamy, glitchy take on contemporary pop music, spawning a kaleidoscopic euphoria which reaches its pinnacle by a chorus performed by London’s renowned Trinity Choir. Alongside the release, she’s also unveiled a B-Side rework of Oneohtrix Point’s ‘Long Road Home. 

Lucianblomkamp & IJALE - Ducks In A Row

Tastemaker and producer Lucianblomkamp has continued to release his album, tapping fast rising artist IJALE for new single ‘Ducks In A Row’. With the single, Lucian returns to his electronic roots, producing a dark, percussion heavy banging beat. It lays the perfect platform for IJALE to deliver his sharp, pulsating delivery.

Cosmo’s Midnight - Can’t Do Without (My Baby)

Cosmo’s Midnight continue the momentum of their critically acclaimed studio record, ‘Yesteryear’ with new single, ‘Can’t Do Without (My Baby)’. The track is driven by its hook, which is sampled from 1970s American soul singer Tommy Tate’s ‘I Can't Do Enough For You Baby’. It features slick palettes of electronic and soul production, with hints of grand brass sections, soothing, classic Cosmo’s Midnight synths and summer inspired drum breaks.
