Live Review: PREMIERE: Groove City bring the 70s back with new video, 'Let's Not (Do This Again)'

Sydney groove masters GROOVE CITY are half way through their biggest year yet. Having already played at Groovin' The Moo in Canberra as well as the closing night of The Island's 17/18 summer party series and with a headline show at Oxford Arts Factory which is selling very quickly, the duo's reputation for laying down intoxicating grooves and mastering solid funk vibes in their performances precedes them, and now the pair are back for more with a brand new single and video.

Titled 'Let's Not (Do This Again)', this is once again a trip down groove lane, with Groove City sharing the first of a two part series, directed and produced by LUGU Films. Complete with synchronised dance moves, palpable emotion and rich storytelling, the video depicts our lead guy reminiscing on brighter and happier times with his loved one as he makes his way to a meet-up with her, at which the feelings on display couldn't be more different. With just enough cheese that the schtick of Groove City is still in tact while showing them off as a whole lot more than just that, 'Let's Not (Do This Again)' is a catchy, 70s and 80s-influenced laced number that you'll be singing for days to come.

With an EP already under their belt at the end of last year, Groove City have made it their mission to bring the groove to the masses. Capitalising on acts before them like Total Giovanni or even very early Client Liaison, yet putting their own spin on it, Groove City are sitting on a treasure trove of tunes that will make you feel good inside and out. Catch them at Oxford Arts Factory this weekend, and keep your eyes peeled for part two in this video series!
