LO'99 launches collaborative live studio session for 'The Mega Collab' track

Sydney producer LO'99 has announced a massive, ongoing collaborative live studio session to create a new track called 'The Mega Collab'

Sydney's LO'99 is taking the new normal of social distancing and self isolation in his stride lately. Having had his US tour grind to a sudden halt when a ban on gatherings was implemented across the world, he took this opportunity and sudden bountiful amounts of spare time and used it to think up a brilliant new ways to still connect and collaborate with his fans and peers. Enter 'The Mega Collab', which is set to flip the art of collaboration on its head.

The mission of 'The Mega Collab' is simple: it's a mass-participatory collaboration to create a one-off track via live-streaming service Twitch, and the finished product will be officially released once it's completed. Having already kicked off one session last Thursday, LO'99 is set to do another tomorrow, April 16th. Sessions will continue every Thursday at the same time until the banger is complete, and anyone who is wanting to join -either to watch or collaborate- is welcome to do so!

With the first session amassing 600 live viewers and over 50 collaborators, it seems LO'99 might indeed be onto something special here. Speaking on the idea and experience so far, he said, "I’d been planning to tap into Twitch for ages and when my US tour was cut in half and I found myself in mandatory isolation I thought there was no time like the present. I wanted to find a way to involve anyone and everyone and provide a fun platform to collaborate so I decided to give this a try.”

“I wasn’t even sure we’d get anything off the ground but after the first session my nerves have vanished and I’m proper excited to see where we get this week!”

The good news doesn't stop here though. Not only does LO'99 have a new single coming out this Friday, he's also giving away a bunch of Ableton store credit and has promised more live studio streams, DJ sets and plenty more via Twitch.

To tune in and either sit back and watch or be a part of the magic unfolding, follow LO’99 on Twitch here. Those wanting to flex their creativity and contribute to the track can register their interest by emailing lo99megacollab@gmail.com before 3pm AEST on Thursday 16 April (10pm Wednesday LA / 1am Thursday NYC / 6am Thursday LDN).
