Is there new music from Kaytranada on the way?
There might be good news for Kaytranada fans this week, with the Canadian producer taking to Twitter to allude to a new release potentially coming out this Friday.
The tweet came from a keen fan posting a clip from a recent online DJ set of Kaytranada‘s, which showed the producer playing an unreleased track. In the post, the fan asked if and when this might get an official release, to which he replied, “Friday? Maybe?” The clip has since been taken down, which has fans even more frenzied as it could be an indication that this may indeed be true.
Fans have since pointed out the song in question, which our mates at Stoney Roads described as sounding “very Kaytra with spacey style synths and a great flowing vocal hook to match”, features rising RnB artist Lucky Daye, though there was a moment in which someone asked if it featured Frank Ocean — causing us to nearly pass out at the very thought of such an iconic collaboration existing.

This also comes after Kaytra revealed in a recent interview with Paper Magazine that he has been working on a beat tape for the last three years, and is looking to release it soon. This isn’t the first time he’s mentioned this, with the producer also referring to this tape in some form back when he released his critically acclaimed latest record, BUBBA, at the end of 2019.
While we do know better than to buy into any rumours, hints or teasers on social media, but at the same time, we are always down for new Kaytranada so you can’t blame us for hoping. Watch this space to see if we’re right!
